remove the timing cover, the radiator,
and the oil pan and replace the front crankshaft seal (often
required 2 or 3 times
before engine rebuild), is a 7-8 hour task. The front
crankshaft pulley is frequently
scored beyond use. This kit remedies both situations.
Subsequent seal-replacement
time is reduced to 1/2 hour. Pulley is resurfaced with
hard stainless steel sleeve.

Mechanic's Note: Oil is supplied from
the cylinder head to the rocker assembly through
a small hole in the number 5 (rear) rocker bracket. Our
mechanics have found that over time
this very small hole can become completely blocked,
leading to premature rocker assembly|
failure. A good way to test for this condition is to
observe the engine running with the valve cover
removed. Oil should seep from the small hole in the top
of each rocker. Oil flowing profusely from
under the rocker shaft generally indicates worn rocker
bushes, or shaft, or both. Little or no oil
present in the rocker chamber could indicate a blocked
oil channel, and should be investigated. |
